Timebun vs. Harvest.

Harvest is a solid, well-known time tracker. Timebun is built for firms that sell retainers and prepaid hours and want clients to see their own balance. Here's where the two differ, including the part of Harvest's pricing that isn't on its pricing page.

!

On Harvest's Flex billing, the bill is seats plus usage.

Harvest bills each paid plan one of two ways. On Flex, you pay a per-seat rate plus usage-based charges for active projects, active clients, active tasks and invoicing above a free allowance, starting at your second paid renewal. Harvest's help center gives its own example of a bill going "from a seats-only $44 to $404 once usage is added". On Unlimited billing there are no usage charges. Harvest's pricing page shows neither the usage rates nor the price of Unlimited billing; an account's Billing settings do.

Timebun's per-seat and flat-rate plans include unlimited clients, projects, and invoices — no meter, no overage line item, no surprise renewal invoice.

Harvest's billing options as described in its help center, read October 13, 2026. See sources below.

Harvest pricing in October 2026

Harvest has a free plan and two paid plans priced per seat. It advertises 20% off for paying a year up front.

PlanBilled monthlyBilled yearlyWhat it covers
Free$0$01 seat, 2 projects
Teams$11 per seat a month$9 per seat a month ($108 a year)Time tracking, team reporting, invoicing, accounting and payment integrations
Enterprise$17.50 per seat a month$14 per seat a month ($168 a year)Everything in Teams, plus profitability reporting, timesheet approvals, activity log and SAML SSO
Enterprise PlusCustomCustomCustom integrations, white labeling, a dedicated success manager

On the paid plans the per-seat price is a base rate. Harvest's pricing page says "additional invoices, projects, clients, and tasks are billed based on what you use". Its help center calls this Flex billing, and says each plan can instead be billed as Unlimited, at a fixed price with no usage charges. Neither the usage rates nor the price of Unlimited billing is on the pricing page.

Timebun is priced per seat while a team is small, then a flat $199 a month (or $159 a month billed yearly) from 14 people, with no usage charges.

Harvest
Retainers in money

Retainers & pre-paid balances

Timebun sells named retainer plans and pre-paid hour bundles as first-class objects, with rollover rules and low-balance alerts. Harvest has retainers too, as funds collected up front that invoices draw from, and project budgets in hours or fees. We found no retainer or block counted in hours, with rollover, on Harvest's site as of October 13, 2026.

A portal with hours, not only invoices

Every Timebun plan includes a portal where clients see their balance, pay invoices, and top up hours themselves. Harvest gives clients a dashboard of their outstanding invoices and recent payments, where they can pay without signing in. We found nothing on Harvest's site, as of October 13, 2026, that shows a client their hours, time entries or a balance.

Timebun
Unlimited
Harvest
Usage-based on Flex

Unlimited, actually

Clients, projects, and invoices are unlimited on every Timebun plan. On Harvest's Flex billing, usage above a free allowance is charged on top of seats, from the second paid renewal. Harvest also offers Unlimited billing, at a fixed price that is not on its pricing page.

Do the math

What would your team actually pay?

Seats, plus an estimate of the usage charges on Harvest's Flex billing, which its pricing page doesn't put a number on. Toggle it off to compare seats only.

Timebun
$199
/mo · Unlimited plan
Harvest Teams
$440
/mo, 40 seats
Harvest Enterprise
$700
/mo, 40 seats
At this team size, Timebun costs $241/mo less than Harvest Teams on seats alone — before any usage charges on Harvest's Flex billing.

Overage estimate assumes roughly one project and one invoice per client per month, on top of Harvest's reported free allowance (3 clients, 4 projects, 4 invoices) at user-reported rates (~$15 per extra client, project, or invoice). Harvest doesn't publish these rates — treat this as directional, not exact. On Harvest's Unlimited billing there are no usage charges; its price is not published either. Sources below.

FAQ

Switching from Harvest

Can I move my data over from Harvest?+

Yes. Connect a Harvest access token and Timebun imports clients, projects, people, tasks, and time across in five guided steps. You can re-run it right up until the day you switch, so nothing has to happen in one sitting.

Does Timebun have everything Harvest has?+

No. Harvest has timesheet approval and copies invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online or Xero, and it sells Forecast, a separate product, for scheduling teams. Timebun has none of those. What Timebun has, and we did not find on Harvest's site, is retainers and prepaid blocks counted in hours, and a portal where clients see their balance and buy more hours. If your team needs a shared timer and invoicing with no retainer in hours, Harvest's Free or Teams plan may be all you need; on Flex billing, check the usage charges in your Billing settings.

Why does Timebun charge a flat rate above 14 people?+

Because per-seat pricing stops making sense once a team is big enough — it just taxes every hire. Unlimited is cheaper than Starter's per-seat rate from 14 people on, flat, however many you add after that.
